Welcome to the Yale Banner!
The Yale Banner
the nation's oldest college yearbook
In 1841, The Banner, a student newspaper, was circulated in response to a violent riot between Yale students and the Firemen of New Haven. In 1842 The Banner changed focus, becoming a listing of college enrollment statistics and societal membership. Since then, the publication has changed names to The Yale Banner and evolved into a yearbook documenting all aspects of the academic year, as well as featuring senior portraits and biographies. The Yale Banner is the oldest college yearbook in the nation. The Banner is now officially a registered student organization, and completely student-run.
The Old Campus freshman facebook was first published in 1939.
